Het aantal boeken dat over zingen en in het bijzonder over koorzang wordt geschreven is gering. Bovendien zijn er in het Nederlands zeer weing uitgegeven.
Het is ook niet eenvoudig; veel van wat er gebeurt bij het professionele zingen is nog niet begrepen, laat staan bij het amateuristische (koor)zingen.
Toch worden er vaak met deze 'amateurs' topprestaties behaald, die aantonen dat met goed verstand van zaken, goede leiding en gerichte aanwijzingen, verrassend veel kan worden bereikt.
Klaziene van der Vinne heeft terdege geprobeerd de (koor)zang uit het 'intuïtieve' te houden. Dit geldt zowel voor de heldere beschrijving van de stem, als voor de waardevolle praktijkgerichte aanwijzingen voor de (koor)stemvorming.
Wat niet beschreven is, is misschien juist datgene wat precies de Kunst van het (koor)zingen inhoudt. Het valt de auteur niet te verwijten, dat is nu eenmaal 'The State of the Art'.
Ik hoop dat dit boek wordt getoetst in de praktijk en dat er opbouwende kritiek komt. De inspanning om dit boek te schrijven is groot geweest. Juist door positieve kritiek kan het doel van de schrijfster, niveauverhoging van de (koor)zangcultuur in Nederland, meer en meer worden bereikt. (Prof. Dr. Harm K. Schutte).
