Titles are: Toccata (a fast but majestic dance with changing time patterns and contrasting lyrical middle section), Aria I (a long cantabile horn solo over a harmonic ostinato from trombone and tuba, and later muted trumpets and trombone), Scherzo (a very fast dance built on a short rhythmic motives, and a interval of a minor third and perfect fourth), Aria II (in the manner of a funeral march for two flugel horns, with simple rhythmic chords for the other three instruments.), Burlesque (A fragmented but highly rhythmically-charged dance, based on a short rhythmic motif), Toccata (a reprise of the opening dance, in xshortened form, bringing the work to a triumphant close).
